It's no secret that kids are attached to their phones, so why not teach them to use them to their advantage with something more useful than scrolling?

The first step to helping teens learn how to better deal with difficult emotions is teaching them how to recognize and acknowledge the emotions. The "Your Life Your Voice" mood journaling app from the Boys Town National Hotline® offers a simple solution for trackin g thoughts, feelings and moods as an interactive tool right on their phone! Download it for iOS here.

Kids can choose from a variety of emojis to help them identify moods and add details to entries by writing, recording a video or attaching a photo. Whatever mood, feeling or experience they are going through, the app is a great way to express their thoughts.

One of the features we are most excited about is that kids can review a report of their tracked moods. This report can be used to remind them of the memories that make them who THEY are! There are also useful tips and tools from yourlifeyourvoice.org to help them turn their mood around when they're feeling down or stressed out.

App Features:

 1. Choose from a variety of emojis

 2. Add details like photos, videos and text

 3. Review past entries

 4. Get tips and tools from yourlifeyourvoice.org for dealing with stressful situations

 5. Set a daily reminder to track moods

 6. Access free crisis counseling via phone, email or text

 7. Create a Safety Plan that help teens know what to do when they are feeling overwhelmed with problems or emotions

Be sure to share this free app with your teen and have them add it to their phone — and you can even use it as a parent or caregiver. When people know what triggers certain moods, they can take the right steps to keep themselves and others safe.

The Boys Town National Hotline is a toll-free hotline available 24/7 and is staffed by trained counselors. If you need to speak to someone you can:

 1. Call 800-448-3000

 2. Text VOICE to 20121

 3. Email hotline@boystown.org

 4. Download our new app!
