Thanks for writing in for help. Parenting is a tough job and knowing how to help our children be happy and successful is challenging. Your son’s difficulty in school is something that e-mails are not going to fix, no matter how many or how often teachers send them to you. You should schedule a meeting that includes his teacher, counselor, perhaps the principal, and the two of you, to form a plan for him to become more successful in school. Sometimes it is helpful to also have the school psychologist attend to make sure that every angle is considered.
As far as your son’s anger, has he ever spent time in counseling or therapy? If not, this may be something that would help him through this rough time in his life. Typically our emotional health and the strength of our support networks is what gets us through the tough times. A counselor or therapist would be able to help in both of those areas.
We can offer you some referrals for counselors that work specifically with adolescents who have anger issues. If calling would be convenient, you may find that helpful, as well.
