When you can't actually sit down and have dinner together, try to grab at least five or ten minutes at some point during the day when you're face to face and voice to voice and you can kind of check in and find out what is happening with your kids. Sometimes it might not be the big family dinner you're thinking about, but it might be a cup of hot chocolate or a cup of tea or a bedtime snack and just grabbing those few minutes to share a little food and some conversation with your child. That can be a great way to connect as well.
