How do I use problem solving to help my family get through a crisis?
When it comes to problem-solving, a good technique to use is the SODAS method. SODAS stands for:
S – Identifying what the real situation is.
O- What options do you have to solve the problem?
D – What are the disadvantages of choosing a particular option?
A – What are the advantages of choosing a particular option?
S – Deciding on a solution. What is the best way to handle this particular situation based on the options, advantages and disadvantages of those options.
The SODAS method gives parents and children a very specific way to walk through a problem and find the best solution.
